Ellis & Winters lawyer Alex Pearce has been appointed as the chairperson of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Privacy and Data Security Committee.
The NCBA’s Privacy and Data Security Committee was created to address the expanding issues of privacy and cybersecurity law that are impacting the public and the legal profession in North Carolina, and to support the new specialty certification in Privacy and Information Security Law that has been adopted by the North Carolina State Bar and its Board of Legal Specialization.

Alex Pearce concentrates his practice in Privacy and Data Security law. He partners with organizations to provide strategic and practical guidance on matters that implicate domestic and international privacy and data security considerations. Alex has been certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) and as a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT). In 2017 the IAPP recognized him as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
Alex’s broad and varied experience includes counseling clients on compliance with state, federal, and international privacy and data security laws; advising clients on the response to data security and privacy breaches; and representing clients in transactions and disputes centering on privacy and data security issues.
