Ellis & Winters LLP has been recognized again as an industry leader in the most recent Chambers USA report of all United States law firms.

The publication listed Ellis & Winters among North Carolina’s leading law firms in the areas of antitrust (Firm Band 1), commercial litigation (Firm Band 2) and real estate (Firm Band 3).

Chambers USA also touted six of Ellis & Winters’ attorneys as leaders in their respective practice areas: Matthew W. Sawchak in Antitrust (Band 1), Leslie C. Packer in Litigation: Healthcare (Band 1), Richard W. Ellis in Litigation: General Commercial (Band 2), Jonathan D. Sasser in Litigation: General Commercial (Band 3), Michael G. Winters in Real Estate (Band 3) and Paul K. Sun Jr. in Litigation: General Commercial (Band 4).

Chambers USA researches more than 25 commercial practice areas to identify the best firms and individual lawyers across the United States. The qualities on which the rankings were assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by the client.

About the Chambers USA Report

To compile the report, over 14,000 interviews were conducted over a period of 6 months by a team of 40 full-time researchers. Law firms and individual attorneys are ranked in bands from 1-6, with 1 being the best. In addition, there are further categories in which attorneys can be ranked as exceptional individuals. A ‘Senior Statesman’ is an attorney who no longer works hands-on with the same intensity but who, by virtue of close links with major clients, remains pivotal to the firm’s success. A ‘Star’ ranking is given to attorneys with exceptional recommendations in their field.

Two additional bands list those who are at the forefront of their generation but who do not yet warrant inclusion in the tables. The ‘Up and Coming’ band lists those who do not yet have an established reputation but who are driving their firm’s growth. ‘Associates to Watch’ are senior associates who are recognized for their work in the background of major deals.
