Kerry Boehm is a bankruptcy litigator and core member of our Creditors’ Rights practice group. Kerry has experience addressing a variety of bankruptcy issues, including protection of cash collateral, adequate protection, automatic stay relief, post-petition financing, contesting plan confirmation, and adversary proceeding litigation. She regularly appears in bankruptcy courts in consumer and commercial bankruptcy cases, and also contributes summaries of recent appellate decisions of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit to the Norton Bankruptcy Law Adviser.

Prior to joining Ellis & Winters, Kerry served as a law clerk to all three of the judges for the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Kerry’s specialized background in the Bankruptcy Courts has gifted her with critical insight into the resolution of such disputes, helping her guide clients through complex consumer and bankruptcy matters, loan workouts, foreclosures, collections actions, claim and delivery proceedings, fraudulent and preferential transfer cases, and cases involving the Uniform Commercial Code.

Kerry earned her law degree with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor for the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology and completed an externship with Judge Benjamin A. Kahn of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Immediately following graduation, Kerry clerked for Judge Joseph N. Callaway II, Chief Judge Stephani W. Humrickhouse, and Judge David M. Warren, all of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

In her free time, Kerry likes to travel, cook, read, and listen to podcasts.
