Kelly Margolis Dagger Named to Board of Directors of SPCA of Wake County

Ellis & Winters is pleased to announce that Kelly Margolis Dagger has been named to the board of directors of the SPCA of Wake County. Ms. Dagger will serve a three-year term beginning in April. Ms. Dagger has taken an active interest in the legal issues associated with animal welfare since law school, where she served as the president of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law chapter of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund.

About Kelly Margolis Dagger

Ms. Dagger focuses her practice on commercial litigation, appeals, and criminal defense. She has represented clients in a range of civil matters in state and federal courts as well as international commercial arbitration. Her experience includes unfair and deceptive trade practices, contract disputes, higher education issues, consumer finance law, employment law, securities fraud, and First Amendment. Ms. Dagger also has federal criminal defense experience, including pleas, sentencing, and appeals, and maintains an active pro bono practice. Ms. Dagger joined Ellis & Winters after receiving her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an editor of California Law Review.

Founded in Raleigh in 1967, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Wake County is dedicated to creating a more humane community where every adoptable animal has a home. The mission of the SPCA is to protect, shelter and promote the adoption of homeless animals; to provide education about responsible pet ownership and to reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs. Each year the SPCA rehomes over 3,200 animals through its innovative adoption programs.
