Overview

Brittany Levine, a North Carolina native, is a member of the firm’s Litigation Group where she focuses her practice on complex civil litigation. As a dedicated defender and advocate for healthcare, distribution, and retail industries, Brittany provides strategic counsel to her clients across a range of matters in pre-suit investigations, litigation, arbitration proceedings, and risk management. She has frequently appeared in state court and has successfully taken multiple arbitration proceedings to verdict.

Brittany approaches every case with a trial-ready mindset, bringing a proactive and meticulous focus from the outset. She is committed to understanding each client’s objectives and tailors her strategies to align with their goals. Beyond the courtroom, Brittany monitors industry developments to equip both leadership teams and frontline employees with timely education on emerging trends and best practices.

Brittany earned her BA in political science from American University and her law degree magna cum laude from Campbell Law School. During law school, she served as a five-time moot court competitor, research assistant, teaching scholar, and judicial extern at the North Carolina Supreme Court for Justice Paul Newby. She was selected for membership in The Order of Barristers, the national society recognizing outstanding performance in the art of advocacy.

Outside the office, Brittany enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time with her German Shepherds, Han Solo, Moon, and Indy. They can often be found on long hikes enjoying the beauty of North Carolina’s mountains and parks.

Experience

  • Arbitrating catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims, including obtaining a defense verdict for a skilled nursing facility in a wrongful death case.
  • Routinely arguing motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment, such as successful motions to dismiss in medical malpractice actions based on the failure to comply with Rule 9(j) and motion to dismiss a national retailer based on a statute of limitations defense.
  • Representing clients before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and delivering oral arguments.
  • Defending corporate clients from excessive liability by obtaining the dismissal of parent companies and punitive damages claims.
  • Arguing motions to compel arbitration, including securing an order to compel arbitration for a skilled nursing facility where the plaintiff challenged the healthcare power of attorney’s authority to enter into the arbitration agreement.
  • Challenging opposing experts aggressively, including eliciting testimony unfavorable for the plaintiff which led to the dismissal of the complaint.
  • Directing rapid response investigations for catastrophic motor vehicle accidents.
