Ellis & Winters Paralegal Sarah Kaufman Appointed to NC Board of Paralegal Certification

The North Carolina State Bar Council has appointed Ellis & Winters paralegal, Sarah Kaufman, to a 3-year term on the Board of Paralegal Certification.  According to the North Carolina State Bar Paralegal Certification website, “The nine-member Board of Paralegal Certification is responsible for administering the plan for certification of paralegals. The board’s administration is subject to the statutes governing the practice of law and the authority of the North Carolina State Bar Council.” 

Sarah Kaufman, ACP, NCCP is a litigation paralegal and been with the firm since September 2003.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from East Carolina University in 1985 and her Paralegal Certificate (specializing in Civil Litigation) from Meredith College that same year. 

In 1987, Ms. Kaufman received her CP (certified paralegal) designation from the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc.  She received her NCCP from the North Carolina State Bar in 2007.  In 2016, she received her ACP (advanced certified paralegal) in Trial Practice from NALA.

Ms. Kaufman is an adjunct professor with the Paralegal Program at Meredith College, teaching the law office management course and a civil litigation short course.  She is a member of the Paralegal Division of the North Carolina Bar Association and was the North Carolina Bar Association’s Distinguished Paralegal of the Year recipient in 2014.
