Ellis & Winters

On Monday. March 20th, our firm was delighted to host a special guest for a notable presentation. In honor of Women’s History Month, we at Ellis & Winters had the privilege of hosting former Chief Justice Cheri Beasley as a guest speaker. We thank Justice Beasley for joining us in our Raleigh office to discuss current events and acknowledge women’s history.

Cheri Beasley began her legal career as a public defender and later as a judge. She became the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court in 2019. Her line of work includes collaboration with law enforcement and educators to create a safer and stronger environment for schools. As a working mother, Cheri ensures her sons health is a priority and has even addressed conflicts with insurance companies to make sure their medical treatments were properly communicated. Her personal family values also align with her career as she implemented paid family leave to over 6,000 court employees. Cheri’s continuous dedication for a secure environment led her to create the first human trafficking court in North Carolina to hold traffickers accountable and support victims.

We are appreciative to have a powerful force speak with us and appreciate Cheri leading the conversation.
