Ellis & Winters LLP is very pleased to welcome Zia Oatley to our litigation practice. Prior to joining Ellis & Winters, Ms. Oatley was a litigation associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP in Washington, D.C where she represented Fortune 500 companies in mass tort, criminal and civil environmental enforcement, unfair trade, and class action defense litigation.

Ms. Oatley is a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in International Studies. Ms. Oatley continued her studies at Duke University where, in 2006, she earned a Masters in Public Policy from the Sanford Institute of Public Policy, and her J.D., magna cum laude, with the Order of the Coif from the Duke University School of Law. During graduate school, Ms. Oatley was the Executive Editor of the Duke Law & Technology Review, placed first in oral argument and written submission in the Sidley IIEL Moot Court Competition, and was recognized by the NC Bar Association her pro bono work. From 2006 to 2008, Ms. Oatley clerked with the Honorable Gregory W. Carman at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York City.
