Ellis & Winters Welcomes Jonathan A. Berkelhammer
Ellis & Winters is pleased to announce that Jon Berkelhammer has joined the firm as partner.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Berkelhammer practiced in a regional southeastern firm for 29 years. Mr. Berkelhammer has a sophisticated trial practice and regularly appears in the state and federal trial and appellate courts in North Carolina and the North Carolina Business Courts, as well as state and federal courts in other jurisdictions. He has defended catastrophic personal injury and product liability matters, as well as trade secret and intellectual property matters, in addition to a variety of commercial matters, such as disputes involving minority and majority shareholders and officer and director liability. He also has been retained and appeared in courts in other jurisdictions. He is active in the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, serving as an instructor at the Southeast Region Trial Skills Program held annually at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also currently serves as president of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA).
Mr. Berkelhammer has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for product liability litigation, listed as a North Carolina Super Lawyer for business litigation, honored by Chambers USA; America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for his work in commercial litigation, and named as one of Business North Carolina’s “Legal Elite” in the area of litigation. He has received a peer review rating of AV by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Berkelhammer received a J.D., with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1982 and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating summa cum laude in 1979.
