Kelly Margolis Dagger Elected to Firm Partnership
Ellis & Winters is pleased to announce that Kelly Margolis Dagger has been elected to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2021.
Kelly is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer focusing on business litigation, employment litigation, and federal criminal defense. In her civil practice, Kelly represents clients in contract disputes, antitrust and unfair competition claims, trademark disputes, and trade secret misappropriation claims. Additionally, Kelly works with businesses to reduce the risk of employment-related claims and defends employers against labor and employment lawsuits involving wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and wage and hour laws.
Believing that every person facing criminal charges deserves exceptional legal representation, Kelly serves on the Criminal Justice Act panels for the Eastern District of North Carolina and the Fourth Circuit, regularly accepting court appointments to represent clients who cannot afford to retain a lawyer. Additionally, she serves on the Criminal Justice Act Panel Committee, which oversees the Eastern District of North Carolina Criminal Justice Act panel, and the Eastern District of North Carolina Local Criminal Rules Committee, the body that reviews and recommends changes to the local rules governing criminal practice in the district. In 2020, Kelly was appointed to the Eastern District of North Carolina Merit Selection Committee. She previously served as the president of the Eastern District of North Carolina chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Kelly received her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, and her undergraduate degree, with highest distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
