Leslie Packer Named President of UNC Law Alumni Association
Ellis & Winters is pleased to announce that managing partner Leslie Packer has been named president of the UNC Law Alumni Association. Ms. Packer was installed as president at the Board of Directors annual meeting held Friday, November 7th at the Friday Center. She will serve a one-year term beginning January 1, 2015. Ms. Packer previously served terms as the vice president (2013—2014) and second vice president (2012—2013) of the organization.
In her role as president, Ms. Packer will continue the implementation of the Board’s strategic plan. The Board’s overarching goal is to enhance the value of the UNC Law Alumni Association as a valuable asset, promoting and advancing professionalism as well as leadership in law. As part of her duties, Ms. Packer will address the graduating class at their commencement ceremony in May of 2015, welcoming them as members of the Law Alumni Association.
The Board serves as the representative and guiding leadership for Carolina Law’s 10,700 graduates. The alumni base includes distinguished educators, honored judges, leaders in business, outstanding practitioners and leaders in government — including members of Congress, counsel to government agencies and hundreds of state and local elected officials. The UNC Law Alumni Association is governed by a board of 80 directors which consists of representatives from 14 geographic regions within the state of North Carolina, as well as members from Atlanta, Birmingham, Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. The association sponsors an annual Law Alumni Weekend as well as other events throughout the country. Many endowed scholarships, awarded on the basis of superior academic performance and demonstrated need, have also been established through the generous resources of the Law Alumni Association.

Leslie Packer concentrates her practice on product liability, medical malpractice and commercial litigation. She received her A.B. from Brown University in 1982 and her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1986. Ms. Packer serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics North Carolina as well as the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
