Once again, Ellis & Winters receives high ranking in Chambers USA directory
For the seventh consecutive year, the Chambers USA directory has accorded top or leading ranking in North Carolina to Ellis & Winters and 7 of its lawyers. In the 2011 Chambers USA directory of the leading American law firms and lawyers, the firm is top-rated or highly rated in each of its three primary practice areas: antitrust, litigation and real estate.
And once again, Ellis & Winters, with 36 lawyers, is the smallest law firm in North Carolina to receive these accolades from the independent research publisher Chambers and Partners, considered the most prestigious of law firm rating organizations.
Chambers USA gives its top rating in North Carolina to the firm’s litigation practice, describing the Ellis & Winters team as “a lean, powerful litigation force. They have the skill and experience to handle any piece of complex commercial litigation.”
The firm also received Chambers’ highest rating in the state in antitrust. The organization quotes sources as saying, “I wish I had a firm like Ellis & Winters in other states: they understand litigation and they’re great litigators, but they also view problems from the client’s perspective and always strive to do what’s best for them.”
The firm’s real estate practice is also highly rated, with Chambers research sources describing the lawyers as “a team of detail-oriented, knowledgeable real estate attorneys who can be trusted with the most complex transactions and financial issues.”
In addition, the following seven Ellis & Winters attorneys were identified as leading lawyers in their fields:
- Matthew W. Sawchak
- J. Donald Cowan, Jr.
- Richard W. Ellis
- Jonathan D. Sasser
- Leslie C. Packer
- Charles N. Anderson, Jr.
- Michael G. Winters
The Chambers USA directory is published annually by UK-based Chambers and Partners. The independent guide is compiled by a team of more than 50 researchers based on thousands of in-depth telephone interviews with lawyers and clients throughout the United States.
The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment and other characteristics most valued by clients.
