Stephen D. Feldman

On Friday, April 17, Stephen Feldman presented an appellate-practice program at the ABA Section of Litigation Annual Conference in New Orleans. On the theory that the best lessons come from mistakes, the program (called “Oral Argument Gone Wrong”) centered on a mistake-ridden mock oral argument. The mistakes served as the basis for a post-argument discussion that analyzed the impact of each mistake and suggested practical tips for avoiding the mistakes.

Chief Judge Carl E. Stewart of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit joined Judges Roland Belsome and Rosemary Ledet of the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, on the panel of judges that heard the argument and offered advice.

Mr. Feldman serves in the leadership of the ABA’s Appellate Practice Committee and, in that capacity, has prepared numerous appellate CLE programs for the ABA Section of Litigation. Mr. Feldman also serves on the section council for the North Carolina Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section.
