Eleven Ellis & Winters attorneys named to Super Lawyers and Rising Stars
Law & Politics, which publishes the annual North Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine, has named eleven Ellis & Winters attorneys to its prestigious Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists for 2009. Charles N. Anderson, Jr., Andrew S. Chamberlin, J. Donald Cowan, Jr., Richard W. Ellis, Alex J. Hagan, Leslie C. Packer, Jonathan D. Sasser, Matthew W. Sawchak, Paul K. Sun Jr. and Michael G. Winters were all recognized for outstanding professional achievement in their respective practice areas. Additionally, George F. Sanderson III was named to the magazine’s Rising Stars list for his work in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights.
“It is always an honor to be recognized by your peers,” states Dick Ellis, one of Ellis & Winters’ founding partners, “particularly when those peers are sometimes your opposition in the courtroom.”
Only five percent of North Carolina lawyers are named to Law & Politics’ Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists each year. It is the only publisher in the legal industry that qualifies candidates by a multi-tiered evaluation process, incorporating both professional achievement and peer recognition. Even within the honor of list selection, there are further kudos. Several Ellis & Winters attorneys were also among the Top 100 candidates who received the highest point totals during the nomination, research and blue ribbon processes. These included Andrew Chamberlin, Don Cowan, Dick Ellis, Leslie O’Toole, Jon Sasser and Matt Sawchak. Additionally, Leslie O’Toole was named among the Top 50 Women with the most point totals, and Don Cowan was among the Top 10 attorneys in North Carolina.
