Ellis & Winters Partners Recognized on the North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Legal 250 List

Firm partners Charles ‘Chuck’ N. Anderson Jr., Alex J. Hagan and Elizabeth ‘Biz’ R. Harrison are honorees on the 2026 North Carolina Lawyers Weekly (NCLW) Legal 250 list. This is a debut annual feature for NCLW that spotlights North Carolina attorneys who are producing exceptional work in the legal industry and helping move the profession forward. Chuck, Alex and Elizabeth have also all been honored on NCLW’s Power List in their respective practice areas.

Chuck is head of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Group and is featured for Real Estate Law. Chuck’s legal practice includes both litigation and transactional work. His real estate practice focuses primarily on the representation of banks, insurance companies, other financial institutions and developers in loan transactions secured by real estate. Chuck also handles matters involving creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, commercial real estate, and debt finance. Chuck was recognized for his real estate practice on the 2025 NCLW Power List.

Alex is the firm’s Chief Executive Officer and managing partner and is recognized on the list for Consumer/Commercial Law. He was also named to the NCLW 2024 Power List for commercial litigation, and again on the 2025 list with additional recognition for his medical malpractice work. Alex has extensive commercial litigation experience, representing software manufacturers, retail chains, and other product manufacturers in contract, trademark, and employment disputes. Alex’s practice also includes product liability defense, as well as the defense of academic institutions, religious organizations, and health care providers.

Elizabeth, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Group, is featured on the list for her Real Estate practice. She was also consecutively recognized on NCLW’s 2024 and 2025 Power Lists. Elizabeth is an established commercial real estate attorney with over 30 years of experience. She represents commercial buyers, sellers, developers, builders, and lenders in complex real estate matters, always delivering exceptional client service.
